Milltek exhausts for the BMW M2, M3 and M4
The F8x cars have the widest choice. The F87 M2 and M2 Competition, F80 M3 and F82/F83 M4 have cat-backs, ValveSonic+ and Active Valve Control, and the Competition models can add an equal length cat-back upgrade kit. Non-OPF cars built up to 2018 and 2019-20 OPF cars, including the M3 and M4 CS, are listed separately.
The S58-engined G87 M2, G80 M3, G81 M3 Touring and G82 M4 are split by market. UK and European OPF/GPF cars take filter-back and axle-back systems plus Active Valve Control, with a cat-back and X-pipe centre section for the M2. Non-OPF North American and rest-of-world M2s have cat-back and secondary cat-back systems, and the G80 and G82 have secondary catalyst bypass pipes.
Older M3s are covered too: full systems with a sports cat or cat bypass for the E30, a cat-back for the E36, cat-backs and rear silencers for the E46 M3 and CSL, and a cat-back and sports cat downpipe for the V8 E90, E92 and E93.
BMW M135i, M140i, M240i, M340i and M440i
The F20/F21 M135i and M140i and F22 M235i and M240i (non-xDrive) have cat-backs and ValveSonic+, with HJS Tuning ECE downpipes for all but the M135i and large-bore downpipes for the M140i and M240i; 2019-20 OPF cars have their own cat-backs. The F40 and F70 M135i xDrive and the 128ti take filter-back systems, and the F40 cars can add a Maxton diffuser with quad outlets.
The G42 M240i xDrive, G20/G21 M340i and G22 M440i have cat-back, filter-back and Active Valve Control options for UK and European OPF cars, plus cat-backs and downpipes for North American and rest-of-world cars. Non-M models include diesel M Sport cat-backs for the E81, E82 and E87, secondary cat-backs for the 135i, cat-backs for the F30 320i and 328i, F32 428i and E36 325i and 328i, and rear silencers for the 120i and 125i.
BMW X3 M, X4 M, M5 and M8
The S58 X3 M and X4 M Competition have filter-back and downpipe-back systems with Active Valve Control for OPF/GPF cars, and a cat-back for North American and rest-of-world LCI cars.
The F90 M5 Competition has an axle-back and an active centre H-pipe for 2018-20 non-OPF cars and cat-back and filter-back systems for OPF cars, all with Active Valve Control. The G90 and G99 M5 hybrid has axle-backs for UK/EU and North American cars, and the F10 M5 has a cat-back. The M8 Competition (F91, F92 and F93 Gran Coupe) has a filter-back system and Active Valve Control.
BMW downpipes, sports cats and bypass parts
HJS Tuning ECE downpipes and sports cat downpipes keep a catalyst, and are listed for everything from the N13 1 Series to the M2, M3, M4, M340i, M440i and Z4 G29 B58. De-cat downpipes, cat bypass downpipes and secondary catalyst bypass pipes are for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test, and GPF/OPF bypass pipes and modules are louder, motorsport-oriented parts. Most downpipe and de-cat upgrades need an ECU remap.
Resonated, valved and tip options for your BMW
Many BMW systems come resonated or non-resonated: resonated is quieter with less motorway drone, and some listings add a louder race version. Some M car systems offer an X-pipe or mid pipe choice, and several parts come in versions for the OE or a Milltek axle-back. Active Valve Control comes as a basic kit, with Bluetooth app control or as a plug and play remote system depending on the car, and the i8 has an Active Sound Control unit.
