Skoda Octavia vRS Mk1 and Mk2 exhausts
The Mk1 Octavia RS 1.8T 150 and 180 (1998-2006) has a sports cat downpipe and a de-cat downpipe, and the Mk1 1.9 TDI has a large-bore downpipe. The Mk2 vRS 2.0T FSI (2006-2010) has a cat-back, a turbo-back with a sports cat, and cast downpipes with an HJS sports cat or a race cat. The facelifted vRS 2.0 TSI (2010-2013) has a cat-back plus cast HJS, cast race cat and de-cat downpipes.
Octavia vRS Mk3: 220/230PS, 245PS and GPF cars
Mk3 listings cover hatch and estate and fall into three groups. The 220PS and 230PS cars of 2013-2018 have a cat-back with sports cat, cast race cat and de-cat downpipes. The 245PS facelift without a petrol particulate filter (2018-2019) has the same choice plus HJS Tuning ECE downpipes. The GPF-equipped 245PS cars of 2019-2020 have their own cat-back and a GPF/OPF bypass, a louder, motorsport-oriented part.
Diesel drivers have a cat-back for the Octavia vRS 2.0 TDI 184PS (2013-2019), hatch or estate, manual or DSG.
Octavia vRS Mk4 and the Fabia vRS
The MQB Evo Mk4 vRS 2.0 TSI 245PS (2020 on) has a particulate filter-back system plus sports cat and de-cat downpipes. Those downpipes come with GPF delete options, which are louder and motorsport-oriented. The plug-in hybrid vRS 1.4 eTSI (2021 on) has its own filter-back; both make 245PS, so check which engine your car has.
For the Fabia vRS there is a de-cat downpipe for the 1.4 TSI 180bhp hatch (2010-2014) and a large-bore downpipe for the vRS TDI (2003-2007).
Choosing a Skoda exhaust: filter-back, cat-back or downpipe
If your Octavia has a petrol particulate filter, a filter-back system fits behind it and the filter stays in place; on earlier cars a cat-back replaces everything behind the catalyst. Cat-backs come resonated, Road+ part-resonated or non-resonated, and resonated is the quieter choice with less motorway drone.
Sports cat, HJS and race cat downpipes keep a catalyst, and many are offered to suit the OE system or a Milltek cat-back. De-cats are for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test, and most downpipes need an ECU remap.
