Audi S5 B8 and B8.5 exhausts
The B8 4.2 V8 Coupé with a manual gearbox has a cat-back and large-bore downpipes. The 3.0 TFSI is split by body and generation: the B8 Coupé and Cabriolet S tronic (2009 to 2011), the B8 Sportback (2010 to 2011), the B8.5 Coupé and Cabriolet (2011 to 2016) and the B8.5 Sportback (2012 to 2016), each with its own cat-back.
How to pick the right S5 B9 listing
All B9 3.0 V6 Turbo parts are for cars without a GPF, and each variant has four parts: a cat-back, a sports cat downpipe, a cat replacement pipe and Active Valve Control. Four details decide the variant. Body: Coupé, Sportback, or the combined Coupé and Cabriolet listings, which are for cars without a sport differential. Differential: Non Sport Diff, Sport Diff without Brace Bars or Sport Diff with Brace Bars. Drive side: LHD or RHD, and UK cars need RHD. Facelift: the B9 LCI listings (from 2019) are left-hand drive with a sport differential and brace bars, for the Coupé and Sportback.
Sound, valves and tips for the S5
S5 cat-backs come valved or non-valved and resonated or non-resonated, with Race versions on some. Resonated is the quieter option with less motorway drone. Are S5 downpipes and cat replacement pipes road legal?
Sports cat downpipes keep a catalyst and suit a road car, though like most downpipes, including the large-bore downpipes for the B8 V8, they usually need an ECU remap. Cat replacement pipes remove the catalysts, so they are for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test. B9 Saloon and Avant parts are on the Audi S4 range.
