Mk2 Focus RS: turbo-back, cat-back or downpipe?

The Mk2 RS 2.5T has the most choice. A cat-back replaces the system from the catalyst rearwards, while the turbo-back systems run all the way from the turbo and come either with a sports cat (three listings) or with no cat (two listings). The Milltek part number at the end of each title, such as SSXFD069, tells them apart, so compare the descriptions before choosing. There are also separate sports cat and de-cat downpipes, and a locking bolt kit as a spare part.

Mk3 Focus RS 2.3 EcoBoost options

The Mk3 RS five-door has a single cat-back, offered in resonated, non-resonated and race forms. Milltek's Active Valve Control is available too. At the turbo end, choose between a sports cat downpipe, the HJS Tuning ECE downpipe or a de-cat downpipe. Tips across the RS range include GT-115 in several finishes, JET-115 carbon fibre and DTM polished: see tip styles.

Is a Focus RS downpipe road legal?

The sports cat downpipes, the turbo-backs with a sports cat and the HJS ECE downpipe keep a catalyst. The de-cat downpipes and the no-cat turbo-backs are for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test, and race versions are louder, motorsport-oriented choices. Most downpipes need an ECU remap. Resonated systems are the quieter pick, with less drone on long runs. The front-wheel-drive Focus ST has a similar line-up.
