Choosing a Milltek exhaust for the R50, R52 or R53
Pick by model first. The R50 Cooper and the R50 One each have their own cat-back, so check the badge on your car. The R53 Cooper S hatch and the R52 Cooper S Convertible also have separate cat-backs, and both can take a full exhaust with a hi-flow sports cat; for the hatch, that is the single R53 full system.
Cat-backs come resonated, the quieter option with less drone, or non-resonated, and some resonated versions are listed as EC approved. Tips are offered in polished or Cerakote Black, with a fixed or loose trim on some systems.
Mini Mk1 manifolds: sports cat or cat bypass?
All four models can take a Milltek manifold in two forms. The manifold with a hi-flow sports cat keeps a catalyst in the system, so it is the road-focused choice. The manifold with a cat bypass is for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test. Both belong to our wider manifolds, de-cats and sports cats range.
