Original Audi TT and Mk2 TT: what fits
For the 1998 to 2006 TT there are cat-back systems for the 150 and 180 front-wheel-drive cars, the 180 and 225 quattro and the 3.2 V6 quattro, plus sports cat and de-cat downpipes for the 180 and 225 quattro.
The Mk2 range covers the 2.0 TFSI front-wheel drive from 2006 to 2011 with a cat-back and downpipes, the 3.2 quattro from 2006 to 2010 with a cat-back, and the TTS quattro from 2008 to 2014 with a cat-back, a de-cat downpipe and cast downpipes in HJS sports cat or Race cat form.
Mk2 TT RS: Coupe or Roadster?
The 2009 to 2014 TT RS 2.5 TFSI has separate listings for the Coupe and the Roadster, so choose the body style first. Each has a cat-back, a turbo-back system with a sports cat, a turbo-back system with no cat and a secondary catalyst bypass. The sports cat turbo-back keeps a catalyst. The no-cat turbo-back and the secondary catalyst bypass are for off-road and competition use only and will fail an MOT emissions test. The RS3 range covers more 2.5 TFSI cars.
Mk3 TTS and TT RS: OPF/GPF or not?
Mk3 parts are split by particulate filter. The TTS 2.0 TFSI is listed as non-OPF for 2015 to 2018 and OPF/GPF from 2019; the TT RS 2.5 TFSI as non-OPF from 2016 and OPF/GPF from 2019. Cat-back systems are listed for all four, and the 2019-on TT RS also has a filter-back that keeps the filter in place.
Downpipes include sports cat, HJS Tuning ECE (non-OPF TT RS and OPF TTS), cast Race cat (non-OPF TTS) and de-cat versions, plus a secondary catalyst bypass for the non-OPF TT RS. The TT RS has Active Valve Control for both versions. The non-OPF TTS also gets a Road+ centre silencer.
Sound, tips and road use on the TT
Many TT systems come resonated (quieter, with less drone at cruising speed) or non-resonated, and some listings add Race resonated and non-resonated versions, which are louder and motorsport-oriented. Tips range from JET-90 and GT-100 rounds to GT-115 and RS-style ovals in polished, Cerakote black, titanium, brushed titanium, burnt titanium and carbon fibre: see our tip styles page.
Sports cat and HJS ECE downpipes keep a catalyst, while de-cat downpipes are off-road and competition only and will fail an MOT emissions test. Race cat downpipes are a louder, motorsport-oriented choice. Most downpipes need an ECU remap; browse manifolds, de-cats and sports cats for more.
